ABOUT SAILOR KATE:

A double-first name

Hey there, and welcome!

I’m Sailor Kate Ashley (she/her), a New York City-based performer earning my B.F.A. in Musical Theatre with a minor in Arts and Entertainment Management from Pace University this spring. Sailor Kate is a double first name—think Mary Kate of the Olsen Twins. That’s what I usually go by, but my friends call me “Skate!”

I grew up on the southeast coast of Florida and became obsessed with fairies at five years old, which sparked my love for finding magic in the mundane. I caught the theatre bug by ten, and by fourteen, I was a Drama major at the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach.

In addition to performing, I’m an award-winning playwright currently writing my Honors College thesis, Examining Musical Theatre’s Intersectional Feminism Through Soprano Stylization and an Interdisciplinary Framework. I’m also extremely proud of my four-leaf (and five-leaf!) clover collection—and I try to carry a little bit of that magic with me in everything I do.
